Technical Requirements for LOMA Courses

System Requirements

Browser

The latest versions of Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla FireFox, Opera, or Safari (if using Mac) are preferred. Internet Explorer 11 is no longer supported.

Internet Connection

High-speed Internet connection of at least 10 Mbps. We recommend 25 Mbps or higher. If you would like to verify your connection speed, you can use a site such as https://speedtest.net

Taking courses via Remote Desktop or Virtual Machine is not recommended.

PDF Reader

Software that can read PDF documents, preferably Adobe^® Reader^®.

Troubleshooting

Problem: Videos are playing slow

Please verify you are using the recommended Internet Connection.

Please close out of any unnecessary programs and windows.

Problem: Course Portal is not opening

Ensure that your system allows pop-ups from services.loma.org in order for the course portal window to open.

Problem: Course Portal window opens, but the course is not loading or shows an error consistently

You may need to ask your Network Administrator if services.loma.org or azureedge.net are whitelisted on your company’s firewall.

If you are taking an English course and are not located in China, please make sure that the url in the address bar is not ccedge.cn.

Problem: Videos do not play

Firewall/network settings may need to be configured to allow MP4 playback.

Please verify that azureedge.net is not being blocked on your network

if in China, please ensure that ccedge.cn is not being blocked on your network

If you are using a current browser, ensure it is capable of playing MP4 files.
