Highlights

The LIC Operations Committee Meeting is a chance for executives from small-to-midsize life insurance companies and fraternals, and relevant service providers, to get together in a unique peer networking meeting. Join us to learn, share your thoughts, and get feedback from others involved in smaller-company operations.

The meeting brings together 15-20 small-to-midsize life insurance company representatives and relevant vendors. The meeting will include speaker presentations as well as activity reports and facilitated discussion among the attendees.

The meeting is hosted by Baltimore Life in Owings Mills MD. The meeting will begin at 2 pm on Tuesday September 24 with attendee introductions and discussion before our hosted networking dinner. Wednesday September 25 we'll meet until 11:30 am, followed by lunch 11:30-12:30 pm hosted by Baltimore Life.

Highlights include:

  • Operations & Innovation: Harnessing Internal Assets to Increase Revenue as the Result of Innovation and Operational Planning, by Tim Heaton of Heaton Consulting; Mark Rothwell from The Brand Matters, and Chris Downs from New Resources Consulting. This presentation qualifies for one Professional Development Unit for the Project Management Institute and is also available as a standalone webinar (webinar registration and information).

  • Strategic and Holistic Approach to Operational Improvement, by Jason Bordui, President & Founder, Balanced Growth Consulting and Joni Kazmierczak, VP of Operations, Catholic Order of Foresters. This session will cover aligning operational strategy to the business strategy, provide an overview of a holistic approach to operations improvement for core insurance processing, and work through an interactive exercise to apply the holistic approach to the claims process.

  • Facilitated Discussion Topics, including:
    • Expected top three priorities for 2025
    • Beneficiary and Policy Change Form Requirements
    • Do you allow agents to pre-fill forms?
    • Threshold for requiring a certified copy of death certificate
    • Unnatural deaths: what do you accept as proof that a beneficiary was not involved in the death? (Slayer Statute)
    • Does anyone belong to ICA?
    • SLAs for New Business, Underwriting, Service, Claims
    • Avg length of service of employees in New Business, Underwriting, Service, Claims
    • Percentage of service requests via channel (chat, email, portal, call, mails, fax, etc.)
    • Front-line team members in operations: How can we hire and instill the expertise we need in a position with high turnover?

Who Can Attend

The meeting is open to insurance company executives, with a discounted registration fee for LIC members, group discounts, and a discount for fraternal members of the American Fraternal Alliance. Affiliate Members/Vendors must sponsor the meeting in order to attend (see LIC sponsorship opportunities).

Remote Option Available

Registration can be either in person or remote. Registration fees and discounts are the same - simply select your option in the registration form.

LIC Committee Meetings are open to insurance companies/fraternals, as well as vendors/service providers that are sponsoring the meeting. Sponsorship Fee will be billed separately (see LIC Sponsorships).

  • LIC Member: $215
  • LOMA/LIMRA Member: $275
  • Nonmember: $375

Cancellation Policy

Refund Policy: All cancellations/substitutions and refund requests must be received in writing - please submit your request to customer.service@limra.com. Cancellations received by September 17, 2024, will be refunded, less a $25 processing fee. No refunds will be issued after September 17, 2024. Substitutions are allowed at no charge.
