The impetus for growth continues to motivate companies to merge with or acquire other companies. According to GlobalData’s Deals Database, there were 22 merger and acquisition deals in the Canadian financial services industry in the first quarter of this year. The larger the purchase or amalgamation, the more complex and multi-dimensional the deal, and the greater the need for comprehensive examination and evaluation. Increasingly, there are opportunities for Internal Audit to be more actively engaged in these transactions.
