"My LOMA designations have helped me in many
ways in my career. The FFSI has especially helped me understand the financial
markets and institutions as well as the fundamentals and applications of
investments.
"The materials were
very instrumental in understanding the financial service area. I have gained
knowledge in the stock market, bond market, and in investment returns and risks.
Completing the FFSI Program has helped me better serve my clients and I now have
a better insight in securities products as well as life insurance products that
are used in the financial market. As a result, I believe these programs have
helped me become a more well-rounded underwriter.
"The FFSI Program has not only helped me professionally, but also in my personal investments. LOMA
hit a home run with the FFSI! I would encourage anyone in the financial
service industry to take advantage of the program."

"The
FFSI Program is tailored towards individuals engaged in the financial services
industry. Both experienced and novice employees of broker-dealers can benefit
from the FFSI Program.
"Many
insurance companies, large or small, have brokerage services or offer other
securities such as variable annuities. I am employed by a
broker-dealer owned by a larger whole life insurance company. The great thing
about a program such as the FFSI is the amount of knowledge I can apply to the
company as a whole to help achieve synergy between the company’s securities
products and services and the company’s life insurance products and services.
"My
completion of the FFSI Program sparked my enthusiasm for the LOMA programs as I
went on to complete my FLMI, ACS, AIRC and ARA. I believe my work and effort in
earning the company’s first ever FFSI designation was helpful in a promotion
received soon thereafter. I attended LOMA’s annual conference and conferment
in
Orlando
as part of the Inaugural FFSI class and had a great time.
"My
involvement in the FFSI Program has also alerted others to the opportunity. A
majority of my direct coworkers of the broker-dealer have taken or are currently
studying for LOMA designations."

"The FFSI Program builds workforce value
that strengthens and keeps companies competitive,
and prepares them to withstand the test of time domestically and globally. I
think companies benefit by investing in employees for the long-term; one way to
do that is by supporting associates who take advantage of programs like the
FFSI. Personal investment in our careers through the FFSI Program--poignant in
an industry that encourages sound investments--provides a high return in terms
of the credibility it sustains and the value it adds. Financial services professionals will find the
broad-based program informative, practical and relevant. It inspires
personal action related to finances and strengthens aptitude in numerous areas
of our multi-faceted industry.
The FFSI Program offers career flexibility and
equips me to take on new challenges. An added benefit is that the study habits I
honed while completing the designation prepared me to transition to a master's
program; and FFSI content satisfies some of the program's requirements."

"I was especially pleased that the new FFSI Program
allowed me to have a well rounded education,
since it was financial based rather than insurance based.
The development of the
new courses allowed me to continue learning and growing as a customer service
representative. Without any formal college education, it has been a fabulous way
for me to earn college credit and give myself an added advantage in the
workplace. Ameritas strongly encourages furthering your education and helps make
it possible with LOMA courses as well as tuition reimbursement. With a solid
study plan and self discipline it is possible for anyone to complete these
courses if they are dedicated and want to learn. There is a wonderful sense of
accomplishment that comes with earning the designations, and I look forward to
seeing what is next!"

"Business
success depends upon understanding the needs of your internal and external
customers. During my more than
twenty years experience in the computer field, as either a programmer or
business analyst in various industries, I found that I developed or designed
better systems when I understood the language of the users, as well as their
business needs. To accomplish this objective, I have endeavored to avail myself
of industry specific courses and books. LOMA has facilitated this process by
providing numerous financial services industry courses that lead to various
designations, including the FLMI and FFSI. I have benefited from each
designation that I earned, as each of them has given me further insight into the
financial services industry.
As a responsible systems
professional, I know that education is a lifelong process. Anyone who pursues
the FFSI Program will discover that the course material is valuable to their
company and to themselves. The time you invest in these courses will yield a
high rate of return, as they will benefit you by contributing to your career
growth."

"When LOMA introduced the FFSI Program, I
thought 'WOW, courses that really apply to what I do!'
Having worked in the retirement area for an insurance company, I had been
encouraged to complete my FLMI and AAPA, but neither program had much relevance
to my position. The FFSI Program courses were a perfect fit. Investing is an
integral part of retirement planning. The knowledge that I gained in this
program will help me to serve my clients and their employees and provide me with
tools to answer their questions. The courses have also assisted in my pursuit of
my MBA and RPA. I am planning on using the text for LOMA 356 - Investment
Principles and Institutional Investing in my next Finance course!
Thank you, LOMA, for the opportunity to
learn!"

"Attaining the
FFSI has significantly helped me in sharpening my financial services and
capital markets knowledge. The
program structure, including the 7 required courses and the 3 optional
PACS, allowed me to focus on Annuities, an area of interest, while still
learning core portfolio management, risk, institutional investing, and
equity products.
I also found LOMA 356,
and in particular Susan Conant’s Introduction to Institutional
Investing, very valuable to understanding portfolio management risk and
strategies. The course is directly applicable to my firm’s project work
in the mutual fund business. Consultants
in our firm have historically been encouraged to earn the FLMI. Now that
the FFSI is available, individuals have a choice."

The

complexities involved in working in a highly regulated and constantly
changing environment. In combination with the other LOMA course offerings,
the program provides individuals with in-depth knowledge of all financial

An exciting part of being in

"I had not planned to complete any further
LOMA courses or designations until the FFSI was developed. The
FFSI designation is a great addition to the LOMA curriculum, especially for the
insurance companies that have Broker Dealers. I was pleased to see that it was
specifically tailored to those of us working in the insurance industry whose
focus is on the securities side. In my own
company, not many of the Broker Dealer staff take advantage of the LOMA
offerings, because they feel the courses are too "insurance company"
oriented. Taking FFSI courses would be of advantage to the Brokerage operations
staff not only as a way to give them an understanding of the workings of
insurance companies, but also to complement the knowledge they have gained from
experience and from the licenses they hold. Also, it is great that LOMA grants
Professional Achievement Credits for securities licenses in this program.
I hope that you are successful in marketing the
FFSI Program to others whom would benefit from completing the designation - it's
well worth the effort!"

"The FFSI Program is a good
compilation of topics and theories that can benefit a wide variety of
individuals, from beginners to seasoned industry professionals.
The knowledge I gained from the coursework has had a direct impact on both
my financial services career and my life outside of work. A broad
financial knowledge is a must in today's increasingly complex environment,
and the FFSI format provides a solid foundation as well as a method to
drill down toward one's specific focus.
My motivation for obtaining the FFSI
designation was my quest for personal development. The skills and theories
taught in the program are a benefit to any individual, even if that
individual does not directly apply them at work. However, I have
consistently employed these skills in a manner that has allowed me to
consistently add value to my role within World Financial Group, a
financial services marketing company, and the AEGON family. Both World
Financial Group and AEGON actively promote and encourage personal
development, particularly those competencies found within the FFSI Program
because they add value to both the individual and the organization."

"These
are exciting times in the financial services industry, and
professionalism is all about education and continuing education. Even the
designation's name, Fellow, Financial Services Institute (FFSI) shows that LOMA
is in tune with the evolving financial services industry
in that 'financial services" is more descriptive of the increasingly
diversified financial offerings of LOMA member companies.
As an
independent financial services professional, it is by my own initiative that I
too must remain in tune with these industry changes.
I pursued LOMA's FFSI designation as a display of my intent to do just
that.Not
only am I a practicing professional, but I am also the executive director and
principal instructor of a training institute, the Mortgage Institute for
Financial Services Professionals, which was founded in response to the
convergence of financial services.
In my current position it is imperative that I keep pace with current
trends in the industry and set new trends where possible. I had a few
professional designations already, however, it is my belief that we should never
stop making strides to increase our proficiency.
The
Professional Achievement Credits (PACs) are an acknowledgment that you can build
upon that which you already know. It is incumbent upon all financial services
professionals to keep pace with the times and to realize that when it comes to
education, the choice is all yours and the benefits can last more than a
lifetime!"

"Anyone who needs to understand the evolving
financial services industry can definitely benefit from the FFSI Program.
The interactive study aids were especially helpful, and I utilized them
intensely for exam preparation. Investment Principles and Institutional
Investing was particularly fascinating and beneficial. In particular, I've
gained a better understanding of our variable products' investment allocation
process. To fulfill the professional achievement credits, I chose three LOMA
annuity courses. Having successfully completed those leaves only two additional
exams that would be needed to achieve LOMA's AAPA designation--that will be my
next short term goal. My intention was to be the first associate at our company
to achieve LOMA's newest designation. Taking advantage of the
"grandfathered" FLMI courses allowed me to achieve my goal. My husband
and I will be attending LOMA's Annual Conference and Conferment in
Orlando, Florida. We attended LOMA's Annual Conference in
San Antonio, Texas. What an exciting, informative and highly energizing and beneficial conference!

Orlando will be magically fantastic!"

This increased knowledge has helped me

I
believe the FFSI designation provided me a greater understanding of the industry

receive from earning designations."

“The FFSI Program is unique in a way that goes beyond the expectations of providing
quality and essential education for people who are working in the financial services sector. The courses are very helpful in understanding the overall picture of financial services. The course in investing principles especially broadened my horizon in this area. Coming from a technical background, the FFSI
Program has helped me understand the business, especially from the investment side of the industry, and I can utilize this specialized knowledge and expertise to meet my customers’ needs and requirements in a more efficient way. I am a strong believer that any positive education will benefit each of us at the end of the day, and I am confident that knowledge acquired through the FFSI
Program will be very valuable in the future. When LOMA announced the FFSI Program
and its course contents, it really motivated me to achieve this certification, even though it took some time to do it. I believe that no matter what the background of a person is, business education will always help enable people to do a better job in helping their customers and thus help the bottom line of their company.”

"The FFSI takes you to the next level of financial information so that you understand the simple to the more complex offerings in financial planning.
This includes all of the courses, specifically relating to the completion of the FFSI, after the completion of the initial courses from the FLMI. The fact that you have a basis in annuities, which I believe could be the
'wave of the future' of financial products, really adds to the options for all employees or agents in the financial services field.
I use what I've learned in the FFSI Program on a daily basis, just in my Customer Service role. The fact that I have this knowledge adds to the confidence with which I can speak to the customer. It creates a confidence in our customers, because they KNOW that you know what you are discussing with them.
The courses benefit the company any time that you have a more informed employee because it helps the customers understand their purchased products better. You not only have a title, but you have actual 'inner-workings' knowledge of the financial services and insurance industry. Knowledge that can actually be applied to your job is what makes it worthwhile.
What motivated me to earn the FFSI is quite simply...I want to be the best at whatever I do. The FFSI is a path that led to that goal. If you are in the insurance industry in any capacity from a Customer Service representative who speaks with the customers like I do, or an agent who is actually selling products to customers, the more knowledge you have, the more you can help your customer. And, helping the customer should always be the bottom line."

I took the challenge to increase my financial services knowledge when the FFSI

During 2006, our company introduced its first Indexed Annuity product. Because I had taken the LOMA 356 – Investment Principles and Institutional Investing course, I better understood the crediting strategies our policy administration needed to support.
I have always encouraged my co-workers to continue learning more about our industry by participating in the LOMA courses."

"I feel that the FFSI Program is a most useful addition to the FLMI
Program. It adds to, updates and
strenghtens the knowledge base acquired while pursuing the first program. I found that the FFSI has served to broaden my set of management skills and techniques and helps me to provide management services to an even wider clientele.
The FFSI specific courses, such as those in Marketing, Investing, Law and
Financial Services Environment, certainly increases one's knowledge of those subjects covered in The FLMI
Program and, at the same time, has helped make me more competent and
confident in those areas. Flexibility is perhaps one of the FFSI's most useful qualities. The core subjects ensure a solid grounding in
Financial Services in general, and the electives in such areas as Accounting, Annuities, Product Development and Risk Management
provide for a degree of generalization coupled with a strong element of
specialization. All told, it is a most wonderful combination.
As someone in the consulting field I have found that these attributes of the
program have enabled me to provide more effective services to a widening clientele base. The expressions of satisfaction are the only indicators that I require.
I believe that the FFSI Program will benefit FLMIs and other professionals in Financial Services for many years to come."

LOMA carries a lot of clout within the insurance industry. With LOMA now sponsoring the FFSI designation, I saw this as a great opportunity to expand my understanding of the financial services industry through this highly-regarded association. With this new knowledge I am able to provide more knowledgeable and sophisticated training to my customers.
The FFSI Program covered a wide range of topics that touched on all areas of the industry. In college, I studied history and did not have any financial services background. This program provided an education that allows me to intelligently participate in discussions with various departments to resolve issues.
Anyone looking to further their careers should take advantage of this program! The topics covered lay a strong foundation of the financial services industry and will help as you look to move within your company. It has bridged a knowledge gap for me and will be useful as I look to obtain a graduate degree. Friends that are actively pursuing their M.B.A. have said they are paying thousands of dollars in tuition to receive this same education. What a great opportunity!"

"The FFSI
designation has provided me the required academic confidence, strength and professional recognition in
the financial services industry. My interest in Finance, Investments, Employee Benefits, and Pensions & Annuities compelled me to
earn the FFSI designation. I find myself professionally fulfilled upon my accomplishment.
Those who are interested in finance & insurance and who are interested
in exploring the related knowledge, personal development, and above all, professional recognition should
pursue Loma’s FFSI studies. I express my thanks and gratitude to LOMA
for providing excellent educational services as well as to my organization for patronizing professional studies amongst their employees. Without their financial support, such accomplishments
would not have been possible to achieve.’’’

I thought the FFSI Program was excellent. The course content not only helped me at work but with my personal financial planning as well, which was a definite added bonus. I liked the fact that I could count some of the courses I had taken for my FLMI towards this new program. Another thing that I really liked was being able to choose the professional achievement credits courses. I also got my AAPA designation as a result. These courses had so much relevant information to help me understand my work better.

"The FFSI
Program is essential to the financial services professional. Companies are constantly merging and the clear lines between the various sub-sectors of the financial services industry are becoming less clear.
The breadth of information presented makes any associate who completes the designation a source of knowledge and respect."
